ABOUT GAVIN
Gavin Watts is a former Advanced Care Paramedic, Surf Life Saving Life Member, community leader and motivational speaker based on the Gold Coast, Australia.
His journey has been anything but ordinary.
At 22 years of age, Gavin survived a catastrophic accident that left him hospitalised for months and confined to a wheelchair for two years. Rather than allowing adversity to define him, he rebuilt his life and went on to spend 15 years serving the community as an Advanced Care Paramedic. He lost his healthy 17 year old daughter after a very short illness.
Over the past 45 years, Gavin has also dedicated himself to Surf Life Saving, serving in numerous leadership roles including Club Captain, board positions, mentoring, coaching and committee leadership. Along the way he became an Australian Championship Gold Medallist and was awarded Life Membership of the Tugun SLSC, one of the highest honours in Surf Life Saving.
Like many people, Gavin's greatest lessons did not come from textbooks. They came through loss, grief, resilience, leadership, service and rebuilding when life didn't go to plan. Following the heartbreaking loss of his daughter Taylor in 2019, he gained an even deeper understanding of the fragility of life and the importance of authentic human connection.
Today, Gavin is the founder of TEAM NAKED, a movement built around authenticity, courage, resilience and human connection.
Through keynote speaking, storytelling and community engagement, he challenges people to stop hiding behind perfection and start leading, living and connecting more authentically.
